Lately, Ive been spending a lot of time listening to what my paintings are asking for...and where they want to go next.

The newest works uploaded to my website reflect a deepening of themes I've always loved: warmth, whimsy, and a quiet sense of connection. Whether it is a plush teddy bear paused mid-sip, an animal portrait full of character, or fruit rendered in glowing, unexpected color, these paintings are about finding comfort and delight in small, everyday moments.

My brushwork continues to play an important role in this direction. Loose, expressive strokes build softness and movement, while layers of oil paint create a 'tactile' surface that invites the viewer closer.

You may also notice a growing confidence in colour. Rich golds, deep purples, warm reds and cool blues are being used more boldly, often with a heightened mood rather than described reality. I'm less interested in painting things as they are, and more interested in how they feel.

At the heart of this work is storytelling. They are gently narratives, they speak nostalgia, comfort, humour and the quiet companionship we find in animals and familiar objects. I want viewers to smile, pause and maybe feel a little bit lighter. 

As I move forward, I'm leaning into this balance of whimsy and intention...creating pieces that feel approachable, painterly, and emotionally resonant. I'm excited to keep exploring where the path leads.
